Emily has spent more than a decade crafting messages and managing content for clients across the public and private sectors.

At Crosscut, Emily primarily serves our digital health clients, ensuring they reach the right audiences with the right content at the right time. As a former journalist, Emily knows what reporters are looking for and how to deliver it. She nurtures close media relationships with an eye on how her clients fit into tomorrow’s news cycle.

Before joining Crosscut, Emily worked for four years at Strategic Communications, Inc., where she led editorial and communications projects for clients including the Indian Health Service and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). During her tenure, Emily oversaw editorial production of NIH's consumer health magazine, and received an NIH Special Act/Service Group Award for her work on the publication’s COVID-19 coverage. She also worked at the American Gastroenterological Association, where she wrote and edited content for the organization’s website and managed production of their member-facing publications.

Before beginning her communications career, Emily was a reporter and editor at FierceMarkets, where she covered IT leadership and women in tech. Additionally, she conducted research, writing, and fact checking at CQ Roll Call. Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Arts degree in Communications, with a concentration in health, from Johns Hopkins University.
