Clark Pettig
SENIOR ADVISOR

Clark Pettig is a communications and public affairs strategist who has spent more than 15 years helping government leaders, political campaigns, nonprofits, and private sector companies overcome their toughest communications challenges.

As press secretary for the U.S. Department of Transportation in the Obama administration, Clark managed national and international media events and rollout campaigns supporting an ambitious policy agenda. Prior to that, he served as a communications strategist and spokesperson for multiple members of Congress during debates over health care, education, labor, and clean energy.

In 2017, Clark helped launch the government watchdog group American Oversight, where he served as the head of communications and external affairs. In that role, he helped to establish the organization's national profile as a leading voice in government accountability and he managed communications around high-profile ethics and transparency litigation in federal and state courts.

As a consultant at two communications and public affairs firms, Clark has worked with clients ranging from high-growth startups to Fortune 100 companies to develop winning campaigns that address regulatory challenges, mobilize public opinion, and engage with policymakers.

Clark first honed his skills in the fast-paced world of political campaigns. He ran communications for President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign in the battleground states of Michigan and Virginia, and before that, was the spokesperson and communications advisor for multiple congressional races in swing districts.

Clark began his career as a documentary filmmaker, learning how to craft compelling narratives and tell stories that connect with audiences. Now based in the Washington, D.C. area, he’s carried that experience with him to help his clients identify, develop, and tell the stories that matter most to them.
